For more than two decades, W. P. Kinsella has treated baseball fans of all ages to his unique brand of baseball fiction. Whether expressed in novels or short fiction, Kinsella’s tales make us laugh, make us remember, and make us feel.
Sandlot Media is thrilled to honor Mr. Kinsella and continue in the fine tradition he started by creating the W. P. Kinsella Award for Excellence in Baseball Short Fiction. The Kinsella Award will be awarded to the writer of the outstanding short story related to baseball and its relationship to culture, history, and community. $25,000 in prize money Five stories to be published in 108. Competition open to any author with a baseball story and the skill to tell it. Unpublished authors encouraged to enter. Kinsella Award Prizes: | |

Competition Rules |
| |
You may enter as many manuscripts as you desire, provided each manuscript consists of no more than 3,500 words. |
| |
|
| |
Your story must be accompanied by an official entry form or a copy of it, as well as the required entry fee (check or money order made payable to Sandlot Media, Inc.). Manuscripts must be submitted by regular mail or express delivery. If you are entering more than one manuscript, you may mail or deliver all stories in the same envelope or package and write a single check for the total entry fee. |

Your story must be original, unpublished, written in English, and not accepted by any other publisher at the time of submission to 108. Sandlot Media retains one-time publication rights to the First through Fifth Place winners to be published in 108. |

Your story must be typed on one side of an 8 ½ x 11 white paper (computer printouts are acceptable). It must be double spaced and your name, address, and phone number must appear in the upper-left corner of the first page. If this information is not included – your entry will be disqualified. |

Be sure to double check your word count. If your story exceeds the maximum word limit of 3,500, it will be disqualified.
Include the exact word count (not including the title) on the upper right hand corner of the first page of your story.
Be sure to staple your manuscript together before submitting it. Every entry will be read by 108’s judges. All judges’ decisions are final. Your entry must be postmarked by April 29, 2007. If you desire notification that we have received your story, please include a self-addressed, stamped post card with your entry. |

Award winners will be notified by mail before June 9, 2007. Prizes shall be delivered by August 2, 2007. |

Residents of Florida, New York, and Rhode Island are not eligible to compete for the Kinsella Award. |

Catch it and share it Quarterly Photograph Contest |
 |
| |
Pictures can indeed be worth a thousand words. A great photograph catches the essence of a moment in time. Whether that essence is humor, sorrow, or joy, the picture tells a story. Share those stories with others by submitting your photographs to 108 in our quarterly “Catch it and share it” photograph contest. Every quarter, 108 will select two special photographs for publication.The winning photographers will receive one annual subscription to 108 for themselves or for a friend. |

You may enter only five photographs per contest window. Each photograph may be submitted in either digital (300 dpi) or hard copy format. Your photograph must be original, unpublished, and not accepted by any other publisher at the time of submission to 108. Sandlot Media retains one-time publication rights to the winning photograph which may be published in 108 or on the 108mag.com website. Your photograph must be accompanied by your name, address, and phone number. If this information is not included – your entry will not be considered.
